What Are RECs or SRECs?
Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) represent the environmental value of energy. SRECs specifically refers to the credits for solar energy. For every one megawatt-hour (MWh) of electricity a system generates, it earns one credit. These credits can then be sold or traded to help utilities meet renewable energy goals and provide solar owners with financial rewards.
The Value of Being an Illinois Shines Approved Vendor (#856)
Through Illinois Shines, system owners can receive financial incentives based on their solar energy production, but certain parts of the process can only be completed by an Approved Vendor. As an Approved Vendor (#856), Acorn Management Group is authorized to register projects and manage SRECs processing for Illinois Shines Designees and their customers.

We understand that not every solar journey goes as planned. Sometimes, installers leave town or companies shut down before the solar incentive process is complete – leaving customers confused, unsupported, and without the SRECs they were expecting.
Acorn Management Group is stepping up to help. As an Illinois Shines Approved Vendor (#856), we are now able to assist certain stranded customers who have had a solar system installed but never received their incentives. While this process can take time, it isn’t impossible. If your solar project is complete but your incentives are still missing (or you aren’t sure if your installer ever even registered your system), we may be able to assist in getting things back on track.
